Greetings!

Cytoid's website (or CytoidIO) is now completely overhauled for a better experience for both creators and players. There're many exciting new features: level preview, sorting, filters, more search parameters, favourites, profile customization, badges, recent activity, and even achievements (!). Pages have been redesigned as well - I think the only design element inherited from the previous website is the "level card"; virtually everything was rebuilt from the ground up. Technically speaking, the website was rebuilt with extensibility in mind, allowing new website updates to be rolled out more quickly and frequently.

I would be lying if I said everything about this update is original; as you probably guessed, I took most of the inspiration from osu's new site. It's an incredible community-powered music game, and in that regard Cytoid still has a lot to learn from it. Even though the 1.5 main game update is going to be released in a weeks or two, it's not really a "1.5" - more like a game in its early stages of early access. Many essential features are still lacking (for starters, a proper tutorial), and many multiplayer elements were planned but yet to be implemented (such as the dan/段位 system). Thanks to memes, troll charts, and our wonderful mods, the player community at Discord is very active (for an indie game like Cytoid), but the decreasing installs and increasing uninstalls in the last few months keep reminding me that Cytoid is far from good, not to mention complete. At least with this site update, I'm proud to say Cytoid has taken a big step forward.

Soon it'll be Cytoid's 1st anniversary, and it's hard to believe how it evolved from a Cytus simulator to... a Cytus simulator (filled with unimportant extra fluff). Yes, people still regard Cytoid as a Cytus simulator/ripoff, and indeed it would take a while for Cytoid to be recognized as a standalone music game. "What? Isn't this just a simulator?" It was, but it isn't now, and it won't be. Following months will be packed with frequent updates - from our own charting tools to a player leveling system - and our end goal has always been the same: a touchscreen music game powered by the player community. Let's together make Cytoid the most awesome touchscreen music game, ever.
