Scherzo

Dmitri Shostakovich (composer), Mariss Jansons conducting Hilary Hahn with Berliner Philarmoniker

Lv.15
Demoniaco

bentuxthecowben

Directions: Allegro non troppo (quickly but not too much so).

Additional notes: The nature of this movement contradicts its name; where "scherzo" suggests humour and lightheartedness, it subverts this by presenting an increasingly sinister soundscape. As the movement begins, a lively motif is presented, though its jovial nature is gradually dissipated. As the movement closes, the scherzo degenerates into a demoniac and feverish dance, with Shostakovich's signature DSCH motif (D-Eb-C-B, or transposed equivalents) being obsessively used.

***

Another "hardest chart to make" lol, pretty sure you're tired of this crap but an orchestra piece is so much more complex than a solo or a duet piece.
