Time to go back to the 60s! Or 70s. Or whatever time many people saw the worth in video games, because we're going retro!

The criteria this time is Chiptune! Chiptune is a genre of music that is made back in the day when early video game music was produced from "sound chips", so for those unfamiliar, think of 8-bit music.

If pure Chiptune is too restrictive, Bitpop is a genre that combines chiptune with other instruments. Here's an excerpt from Wikipedia:

"Bitpop uses a mixture of old and new equipment often resulting a sound which is unlike Chiptune although containing 8-bit sourced sounds. For example, a bitpop production may be composed almost entirely of 8-bit sounds but with a live vocal, or overlaid live guitars. Conversely, a bitpop production may be composed almost entirely of live vocals and instruments, but feature a bassline or lead melody provided by an 8-bit device."

As this is an Anonymous submission contest, I, TheBombMan, will not enter this contest to keep the levels' charters a secret, even from the moderators themselves, in order to maintain fairness.

Criteria:

Format: C1 or C2 charts allowed; Storyboard allowed. Number of levels to submit: One level only; two to three difficulties. Genre(s): Chiptune, Bitpop Special requirements: Anonymous Submission Contest length: January 6, 8:00AM GMT to Febuary 3, 7:59AM GMT

Keep in mind:

  • You cannot submit an old level that was uploaded before the contest's start date, unless you ask a mod for permission and significally rechart it.
  • You may not make any changes to your level during the voting period, unless it is a bug fix. Inform a mod if you need to make any emergency changes.
  • Mods have the right to change any details about the contest, and the right to disqualify any level(s), and we will announce it via our Discord Server.
