Want to see your songs featured officially in Cytoid? Now is the time to get involved. We are happy to announce that we are kicking off the Cytoid Open Submission 2020 today!
Rules:
- You may submit released or unreleased songs.
- You must own the rights to use all material in your song.
- If your song is a remix, we must receive evidence of permission to remix and submit from the original composer. (This could be something on their profile, or an appropriate creative commons licence, but we still need to see it.)
- Your song must be between 1:40 and 2:40 in length.
- You may submit as many entries as you like, but we reserve the right to limit the number of songs accepted per person in the event that we receive a lot of submissions.
- Submissions should be sent as 16-bit .wav files or 320kbps .mp3 files ONLY.
- Any entries received after the deadline of 23:59 GMT 31/08/2020 will not be considered or replied to - but all others will receive a reply, even if rejected.
- We reserve the right to modify any of the rules. Please return to this page and read them again before you submit.
How to Submit:
Send your entries to submissions[at]cytoid[dot]io. You may send multiple entries in one email. If so, please fill out the following fields for each song:
- Song Title
- Artist Name
- BPM (plus any details of changes)
- Artist’s Comment (optional)
Licensing:
- Submission does not grant Cytoid the rights to use your song.
- Cytoid is a non-commercial game. Hence, we are unable to pay you for your song. We do, however, provide artist-friendly features in-game to direct players towards your artist profiles.
- If your song is accepted, we will follow up with further licensing details to obtain the necessary rights.
Tips from our judging team:
- Make your song unique. All styles are welcome, but we may favour genres not already included in Cytoid. Of course, quality comes first!
- Don’t make your song too repetitive. Repetition is one of the foundations of music, but it also needs to give varied and interesting gameplay.
- Dynamic range over loudness. Ideally, we would work with an RMS of around -8dB, but if that means overcompressing, don’t do it.
- Sing in your native language. We welcome both instrumental and vocal submissions, but we want to encourage diversity and improve quality by asking vocalists to sing in their strongest language.
And finally...
If you are interested in following Cytoid's development, you can join the Discord server for updates.
Still not sure whether to take part? We will be selecting songs for lots of different modes in-game, so your song might even be the theme music for a new character!
We look forward to listening to all your submissions. Best of luck, and happy composing!
