Charting Contest #21 - Potluck

Welcome to the biannual Cytoid charting contest. I hope you are alive, well, and cooking.

Each phase begins and ends at 0:00 and 23:59 UTC-8 respectively. Use this clock to judge the time.

June 21 - August 8: Chart Submission Period

August 9 - August 22: First Voting Period

August 23 - August 29: Second Voting Period

Criteria:

You can absolutely chart any song you want ! But...

For this contest, we are introducing two brackets:

1. Regular Bracket

• No restrictions! Chart any song you want, any way you like.

2. Challenge Bracket

The highest difficulty level in your submission must strictly satisfy at least one of these challenges:

• A: Every single drag chain (both drag and c-drag) must consist of exactly two notes; one head note and one child note.
• B: Every tap and flick note must either be hit simultaneously with another note (double notes), or be placed while at least one hold note or drag chain is currently active.
• C: On each page, any two notes (excluding drag child) must be at least 0.05 units apart on the x-axis.
• D: There must be either at least twice as many 'up' pages as 'down' pages, or vice versa.

Storyboards will not be evaluated as a separate category for this event.

The goal of the Challenge Bracket is to craft an interesting, meaningful chart within these unique constraints, not to find loopholes that bypass them. Submissions that rely on malicious compliance or technical circumvention will be scored harshly.

Submission limits: Maximum of TWO (2) solo submissions per participant. However, participants may collaborate with one or more people (excluding themselves under alternate aliases) to submit an additional submission.

Use of artificial intelligence (AI) during the charting or the storyboarding process is strictly prohibited. If your entry is found to be violating this, it will be immediately disqualified.

To enter:

Upload your level and set to public.

• For the Regular Bracket: Tag your level with "potluck contest".
• For the Challenge Bracket: Tag your level with "potluck contest" AND "potluck contest: challenge <a/b/c/d>" depending on the chosen challenge (e.g., potluck contest: challenge c).

While you may edit your submission during the submission period, all levels submitted will be downloaded when the voting phase begins and will be posted in a follow-up announcement.

To encourage creators to step up, there will be more winners allocated for the Challenge Bracket than the Regular Bracket !

Keep in Mind:

• You cannot submit a level that was uploaded before the contest's start date.
• You must not make any changes to your level during the voting period, unless there are serious problems with your level e.g. broken level.json. Inform a mod if you need to make any emergency changes; otherwise we will disqualify your level.
• Mods have the right to change any details about the contest, and we will announce it via our Discord Server.
